You're On The List

Pretty much every single brand has an email list, and if you're like me, you sign up when you see that promise of a discount code. Of course, once I use it, I eventually unsubscribe (or keep an old email address just to send that junk to). But here are a few email lists worth sticking with, a few that I've found continue to show customer appreciation with periodic coupon offers ...

• Henry & Belle – this local denim company makes some of my favorite jeans (perfect amount of give, high enough rise) and they send out discount codes occasionally, which is just dandy if you ask me!

• Cowshed makes some seriously luxurious scented bath products (and they're all natural!). I'm hooked on the Knackered Cow line, scented with lavender and eucalyptus. I'm also a fan of their flash sale codes they send out.

• Ann Taylor has really been hitting it out of the park lately with their clean classics, perfect for stylish work ensembles. I love their generous discount codes, too!

• Moo.com takes your business to the next level with their variety of luxe business cards (I love the mini moo cards!) letterhead, accessories, notecards, you name it! Oh yeah, they email out coupon codes too.

• Ballard Designs is everything my home dreams are made of. We've implemented a few of their decorative items into our current condo (thanks to their coupon codes), but I'm definitely gonna need a big home someday for all the pretty pieces I want!

Sale Away

Just like now is the time to score a good leather jacket on sale – it's also the best time to snag some new fall duds at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Starting Friday (or two days ago, for you Nordies card holders), tons of stylish stuff is marked way down, which means now is the time to get your hands on those wardrobe staples for the cooler months ahead. I know, it's sad but true ... autumn is right around the corner, so get ready and set for the stylish new season! Below are some classic pieces that should be on your sale-radar come Friday ...

• A quality knee-length coat (something for those months before the puffy coat comes out). I love this grey one as an alternative to black.

• A new leather fall bag. This Tory Burch tote is perfect for everyday use at work, but chic enough with the chain detailing for the weekend or a night out.

• A nice cashmere sweater. This cream drape cardigan is one of those pieces you'll grab all fall/winter because it will go with everything and last forever (with proper care). 

• Faux leather pants. I snagged a pair last year, similar to these 7 For All Mankind and can't wait to don them again – think of them as a casual go-to, but like your black jeans cooler big sister.

• Heeled black ankle boots. Forgo fancy details like buckles or chains – a simple pair like these awesome Acne Studio boots go with everything from dresses to jeans to leather pants. 

• A versatile wrap dress. There's a reason the DVF wrap dress is a wardrobe staple – you can wear it casual with tights and boots for work or dress it up with heels and a statement necklace or earrings for an evening event. Choose a neutral like this navy one for the most wearability. 

Staple Sale Scores

It's kind of hard to think about wearing a thick, leather jacket in July, but now is the best time to score a sweet deal on this wardrobe staple. I came across this gem on deep discount and couldn't resist (especially given the similarity to my beloved Acne Rita jacket). With fall attire starting to fill stores, peruse those sale racks now for a fantastic classic leather jacket (tip: it goes with everything!)

The Reduced Republic

After my weekly sweep through Zara (it helps that my husband pretty much exclusively shops there as well), we were drawn to the giant "sale" signs in the neighboring Banana Republic. I always find some great classics here and this trip was no different ... even better, all of my faves were on the sale rack! I came away with the cream colored jacket below and cannot wait to wear it (obviously after this heatwave subsides). Below are a few items I may have to head back for ... like immediately

Have a Fun Filled Weekend!

Happy weekend all! It may not be the beautiful warm weekend we had last weekend here in Chicago, but why not make it a fun one anyway. You know what it's really time for? Spring cleaning. So while the weather figures itself out, let's get to figuring out what to keep in our closets ...

It's officially spring and the weather is juuust starting to cooperate, which means it's time to do some spring cleaning! (which really means just making room for new fun finds). There are a ton of sales going on this weekend, all of them awesome and not to be missed ...

Gilt-Free Shopping

It's that time again, the Gilt City Warehouse sale is coming up at the end of the month! If you haven't shopped this event before, get your tickets now (it always sells out). Almost anything and everything you've seen on the fab site Gilt – from housewares to handbags, kids shoes to serious designer duds – it's all marked way way down at this sale. 

Past deals I've spotted were a beautiful Marni maxi dress for $145, a classic pair of Prada pumps for $85, and a killer John Varvatos men's suit for $180. Even if you only walk away with a $20 pair of sunglasses, it's worth it (cause those used to be $300!).

Lounge Wear

Just like shoes, handbags, and lip products – a girl can never have enough pairs of perfect jeans. The Denim Lounge on Oak Street will be closing it's doors, but not before they liquidate all of their lovely loot with their "Leaving Oak Street Sale". All merchandise will be 30%-80% off, including my fave brands like Citizens and local love, Henry & Belle (and many more). Happy winter weekend! It's been a cold week, but we're lucky to get a "warm up" this weekend (we're looking at near 30 degrees, people!). If you're like me and just want to hibernate in this weather, there are plenty of awesome online sales going on right now ...

• Theory is having their online warehouse sale, with items up to 80% off (!). If I could choose one brand to build my wardrobe, it would be Theory, so picking favorite items too hard (but I adore these, and this, and this ... and that rockin' coat above).

• J.Crew is offering an extra 40% off already reduced items with code byewinter. Since I'm deep in vacay withdrawal, I'm loving this caftan coverup, and someone with an adorable petit size 6 foot needs these for when the snow melts.

Have a Fantastic Weekend!

I hate to cut this week short, but Steve and I are heading to NYC this weekend for a little getaway and some Christmas shopping! I'm super excited, but bummed to miss all of these fun things going on in Chicago this weekend ...

• There's so many new places to explore ... the foodie paradise Eataly, the Marché de Noël at The French Market, and, not for the faint of wallet – I mean, heart – Saint Laurent opens today. 

• Since I'm on a home decor kick, I'm sad to miss out on the late night shopping extravaganza in Andersonville tomorrow night. Tons of shops will have special sales, snacks, sips and entertainment (my fave shop, Brimfield, will be open til midnight and offering 20% off store-wide!).

• If you still haven't completed your xmas lists after that, head to the Do-Division Holiday Fest. Not only are many local shops offering big sales, but revel in the holiday cheer with decorated windows, carolers, and hot toddies. You can also hit up the Renegade Craft Fair nearby, and the Unison Pop-Up shop party tonight for discounts, drinks, food, and fun.

The weekend is here! Maybe not as lovely as last weekend's sunny warm weather, but a nice break nonetheless. • the annual Chicago Architectural Foundation's Open House is this weekend. It's a rare glimpse behind the scenes of our city's most famous (and it's less famous) architectural wonders - like the lovely Monroe building pictured above.

• One of my favorite vintage events in the city is this Saturday and Sunday. Held at Plumbers Hall in the West Loop, Modern Vintage has everything from designer duds to dollar costume jewelry.

• after returning from France with a seriously heavy suitcase full of beauty products (which I'll post about soon), I loved reading these expert secrets on French skincare.

• Perhaps one of the last festivals of the season, Shaw's Oyster Fest is taking place tonight. In addition to tasty oyster treats, they will offer other seafood snacks, beer, wine and of course, tunes.

Have a Fabulous Fall Weekend!

Happy Friday! If this spectacular weather keeps up this weekend, get out and enjoy it ... cheer on the marathon runners Sunday, head to the Lincoln Park Zoo (it's perfect just as the leaves start to turn), or enjoy a drink on the Terrace at Trump Tower before it's too cold (definitely on my end of summer to do list).

• Instead of perusing the sales online like usual, head to the Gilt City Warehouse Sale tomorrow to score the best that the fashionable site has to offer. 

• On the vintage side of things, check out designer duds when Decades sets up shop in Space 519 once again. Bonus: the chance to meet owners Christos and Cameron!

• Grab Sunday brunch at the original breakfast joint in the West Loop, Ina's. After 33 years, Ina's will be closing it's doors at the end of this year. But now you can make her delicious dishes thanks to her new recipe book.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

There's nothing like a nice three day weekend to wrap up the summer (well, unofficial end of the summer anyway). While I'm a fan of wearing white year round, I love a good excuse like Labor Day weekend to don the crisp, clean hue.

• Maybe going for more of a vintage vibe? The Vintage Heaven sale is back this weekend. Maybe snag some white wear before the summer's up.

• It's supposed to be gorgeous weather, and who better to spend it with than Capital Cities and Passion Pit?! You can at the North Coast Music Fest in Union Park. Still want some more tunes? Go to Grant Park any evening this weekend to take advantage of the Summer Dance series. Learn new moves, enjoy more music ... and the last few weeks of summer.

It's been a steamy week, but we're in store for a pleasant weekend ahead ... which is perfect, because there is a lot of fun things going on around the city!

• Stroll the streets of Lincoln Park during their annual summer sidewalk sales. Grab bargains for every room (your closet included). After you've spent your allowance, head around the corner to the fun, flower-powered festival, the Sheffield Garden Walk. 

• For more stylish sale action, head up north to Winnetka for their annual sidewalk sales. Snag awesome deals all over town, and stay for their block party Saturday night.

• So maybe you want to keep that face fresh instead of sweatin' outside all day ... then head to Nordstrom Saturday morning for their Anniversary Beauty Bash. Score free beauty samples and makeovers starting at 9am.
